Keith Benjamin Guyot, 88, of Lake Junaluska, NC, went to his heavenly home on April 27, 2023. He was born in Geneva, IN, to Harold and Edna Guyot (Zimmerman). After graduating with honors from High School he joined the Army serving honorably during the Korean War. After his Army discharge, he married his high school sweetheart, Dixie L Smith (Guyot) in 1957.
He went to Indiana University and obtained his Master's Degree with honors in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he worked in Ft Wayne, IN for Central Soya before taking a position in Jacksonville, FL as Human Resources Director of Ryder Truck Lines. He finished out his career in Personnel with the Jacksonville Port Authority before he and his wife moved to Charles Town, WV to be near their son and his family.
They loved life in WV, made lifelong friends, and had many adventures. In 2019 they moved to Lake Junaluska to live with their daughter and her family.
Keith loved a good game of golf (especially with his younger brother, Phil), watching most all sports and everything related to the weather. Later in life, you would always find him reading (up to 2 novels a week) and challenging himself with crosswords. His greatest love, though, was his family and he adored his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
We don't know how to sum up his life in a few sentences but to say that those who knew him were blessed by his kind, loving spirit, great humor, integrity, and his selflessness, always putting others first. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, the best daddy you could ask for, and a Grandpa (Great) that is dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents (Harold and Edna); his brother Phillip Guyot. He is survived by his wife Dixie, daughter Melanie Sandefur (Kevin); son Jeffrey Guyot (Patricia); grandchildren Jessica Garner (Peter), Shaun Sandefur, Carissa Ferguson (Calvin), Sarah Murdock (Aaron), Rachael Carter (Jeff); great-grandchildren Ellie, Westin, Jackson, Sawyer, Cecilia and Reed; sister Linda Waterson (Richard) and sister in law Carole Guyot.
A celebration of his wonderful life will be held at a later date.
2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
