Keith Meiklereid

Keith Meiklereid, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Keith was born in England and raised in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). His early years in Africa shaped a deep appreciation for the natural world and a spirit of adventure that stayed with him throughout his life. After leaving Africa, he spent many years living in England and traveling across Europe, enriching his love of history and culture. He eventually made his way to the United States with plans to travel to Alaska, but fate intervened when he met the mother of his children in Los Angeles. Together, they made a life and raised a family, eventually settling in Kentucky. Keith was an avid runner and swimmer, a passionate gardener, and a lifelong learner with a particular interest in world history. His curiosity and desire to learn were matched by his eagerness to share what he discovered with others. Keith never met a stranger-his openness and interest in people made everyone feel welcome in his presence. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Eric and Patty Meiklereid. He is survived by his loving daughters, Gina Meiklereid, Karrie Meiklereid (Manish Honnatti), and Dana Meiklereid (Clint Larkins); his cherished grandchildren, Kairav Honnatti and Nicolas Larkins; his dear cousin Tina; and extended family in Zimbabwe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. A memorial service to celebrate Keith's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Owen Funeral Home–Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. Visitation will begin at Noon and continue until the time of the service.
