Keith Payne, 73 of Cartersville, passed away on September 27, 2025 at his home. He was born on July 9, 1952 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Bert Higgenbotham and the late Lou Smith Payne. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his son, Brian Howell; step-father, James Payne; and grandparents, Sarah and Edgar Smith.

Keith enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of GMTA Truck Driving Competition and received many awards and trophies. During his long career as a truck driver of over 35 years, he developed a close relationship and brotherhood with many other drivers. He passed his wisdom and knowledge down to grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served his country in the Army National Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Connie Kinney Payne; daughter Brenda Glass; grandchildren Megan (Winston) Clayton and Cheryl (Derrick) Middleton; great grandchildren Chase Ruff, Cadence Ruff, Brody Glass, Brentley Glass, Brylee Glass, Annabelle Middleton, Donovan Clayton, and Kolton Clayton; brothers Bart (Gertie) Payne and Jim Ed (Judith) Payne; and sister Gidget (Tom) Benefield.

A memorial service may be held at a later date.
