Keith Herbert Rodgers, 79, of McEwen, TN went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2025. Keith was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Keith is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Linda Bastin Rodgers; his son, Mike (Annetta) Mathis of Athens, AL; his daughter Tracey (Travis) Teichmann of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, Lindsay Mathis, Alex Mathis, Mitchell Mathis and Claire Teichmann, his sisters, Doris (Buddy) Wyatt, Libby Belew, Janice (Gary) Whitehead; his brother, Ted (Kay) Rodgers. Keith is preceded in death by his father Herbert Rodgers; his mother Jane Edwards Rodgers; and his brothers Bobby Rodgers and Freddy Rodgers.
Keith was born on March 29, 1945, to Herbert and Jane Rodgers in Hohenwald, TN. He graduated from Lewis County High School in 1964. Keith proudly served in the US Army from 1965-1967 and was sent overseas as Border Patrol in the DMZ between North and South Korea. He worked at DuPont as a clerk and he was known as Smokehouse by his co-workers.
Keith married Linda Bastin Rodgers on May 22, 1968, and they made their home in McEwen, TN. They raised two children, Mike Mathis and Tracey Teichmann. Keith was a faithful member of the McEwen Church of Christ and loved his church family. Keith had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was highly active throughout his life, from high school football to running around with Claire. He loved his family and friends and was always willing to help anyone. He was known as Turkey or KK to his grandchildren and his family called him Kemo. His favorite pastimes were farming, watching his cows grazing in the fields, fishing, having fun with his grandchildren, and playing games. He would love to sit down and talk about the adventures and travels they had taken over the years or just give you advice. He never met a stranger and loved taking the time to enjoy a good talk. Above all, he cherished God, his family, and friends with zeal. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
