Keith Ernest Ruterman

Keith Ernest Ruterman, 67, of Syracuse, New York, died on July 18, 2025. Born on June 19, 1958 in San Gabriel, California to Vera Louise Hopkins Ruterman and Ernest Richard Ruterman, he dedicated his life to good works for his community. In 1980, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Economics from Hobart College. At Hobart, he walked on to the lacrosse team as a goalie. He earned two Master's degrees in Business and Education. He retired from teaching from the Syracuse City School District. Keith volunteered for Meals on Wheels of Central New York. He shared his interest in chess by teaching the game to others.
He is survived by his siblings, Steven Lee (Joy Sayers Hill), Gail Lynn (Thomas C. Schwartz), and Paul Brian; nieces and nephews, Cary Sayers Ruterman Sherman (Jonathan Sherman), Lillian Emily Vera Rush (Benjamin Rush), Louisa Catharine Ann Schwartz, and Evan Hill Ruterman (Jenn Nicole McDonough); great nieces and nephews, Genevieve Ellen Rush, Julia Louise Rush, Jack Lee Sherman and Peter Hill Sherman; aunts, Marilyn Hopkins Murray, and Marilyn Ruterman Rodman; uncles, Bill Rodman, and Jim Hopkins; and many cousins.
A Calling hour will be held Saturday, August 2 at 10AM, followed by an 11AM Funeral Mass at All Saints Church, 1340 Lancaster Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210.
