Keith Lenard Smith

Keith Lenard Smith was the youngest child born into the family of the late James Albert and the late Julia Juanita Smith. He was born on March 5, 1958, in Newark, New Jersey
He was educated in the Newark school system; he attended Bergen St School, Clinton Place Junior High, and Malcolm X Shabazz (South Side) High School.
Being the youngest of five children, Keith, sometimes called "Keithie Boy", ensured he got his share of attention. He was outgoing and made sure he was known any place he went. He was also known to his nephews as Uncle Buck.
Keith was employed at Motor Vehicle and Royal Cadillac. Later, he worked at the Hilton and Hertz, where he transported cars to various locations. From 1979-1985 he was employed as a security guard at University Hospital in Newark. This employment allowed him to attend the Newark Police Academy. His last place of employment was at Job Corp in Newark.
Keith was also active in his community. He was frequently involved with the Bloomfield Township.
In 1979, he met Eileen Veronica Dunnell. On September 18, 1982, they were united in marriage. From their union, a daughter, Kiara Jazzlynn Smith, was born. Keith became a grandfather on August 5, 2022, to Kazmen Nasir Tyler- Monten
Keith was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed playing and singing with his grandson Kazmen, fishing, playing online games on his computer (solitaire, blackjack, poker), and watching old television shows (Batman, The Beverly Hillbillies). He also enjoyed singing and dancing to jazz, R&B, funk, hip hop, and his other favorite music from back in the day to the present. He loved to travel to places like Atlantic City, North Carolina, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
His parents, Sister Gwendolyn Erwin and Brother Lawerence Smith, preceded him in death. Keith departed this earthly life on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Keith leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 42 years, Eileen, daughter Kiara, grandson Kazmen, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, brother J. Roger, Smith (Patricia) of Hillside, sister Diedre Jean Smith of Maplewood, niece Naome E. Dunnell, her children Tyquan, Mario, Chance, and Zyon all of Newton, New Jersey, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
