Keith Willoughby Winterton, age 89, of Roosevelt, UT, passed away December 4, 2025 surrounded by family. He was then joined by his wife, Vivian Lee McConkie, just eight days later on December 12, 2025.

He was born May 6, 1936, in Woodland, UT to Van Delos and Nida Willoughby Winterton. His family moved to the Basin in the spring of 1939 to expand the ranching and cattle business. He learned to work long and hard hours, which he passed on to his sons. He spent many hours roaming the foothills of Roosevelt on his horse growing up. He and his brother Eldon played softball and he became an excellent fast pitch softball player using their sister, Diane, as the catcher. He and his brother, Don, spent many hours playing with toy trucks until they were big enough to drive together in their own diesel trucks.

Keith went to school in Roosevelt and graduated from the newly completed Union High School in 1954. While in his Junior year of high school, he met the Love of his Life, Vivian Lee McConkie. He asked her to marry him on a trip to the State Fair in September 1954, and they were married on October 26, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised six sons and two daughters.

Keith worked for Peterson Distributing, Dresser Maggcobar, Reidheads, Birrell Bottling (Pepsi) and Basin Wholesale. In 1978, he started Basin Wholesale West, bringing food to the businesses in the Uintah Basin. Keith loved driving truck and being able to work alongside his sons. He had earned the CB handle “Moonlighter”.

Keith was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. He served three missions for the church with his wife in Canada, Florida, and in Roosevelt. He served in the Stake Sunday School Presidency and in a number of Bishoprics but excelled as ward clerk and membership clerk for most of his married life.

Keith is survived by his loving wife,Vivian; his 8 children, and 1 honorary daughter, Paul (Teresa) Winterton, Linda (Dale) Batty, Ronald (Lori) Winterton, Kenneth (Krystal) Winterton, Blaine (Kristina) Winterton, Keith “Chip” (Dalyn) Winterton, Vicky Riding, Philip (Tracy) Winterton, Cindy (Tom) Pat; 42 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren,9 great-great-grandchildren and many more “honorary” grandchildren; his brother, Eldon Winterton, and sister, Diane Galloway and in-laws, Bobbi Winterton, Pauline Derhak, Dannie & Charlene McConkie, and Rick McConkie.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don; and a baby sister, his in-laws, Grant and Jennis Betts, Russell and Ila Rhae Gingell, Victor Derhak, Evelyn McConkie, Jean Winterton, Bill Cook, Rodney Galloway, 2 great-grandsons, Dayson Rowley and Ethan Lewis, and 1 great-great-grandson, Angelo Lutui.
