Kelly Richardson Carter

Kelly Richardson Carter was born on October 28, 1983, in Wilmington, Delaware to Bob and Carla Richardson. From early on she was a lover of all, animals included, as her mom-mom and pop-pop had multiple animals that she always visited. As she grew older she played softball and volleyball, loving every minute of every game.
She was a 2001 graduate of Hodgson Vo-Tech High School where she studied nursing, caring for people as she cared for animals. After high school her interests changed to aviation. Kelly attended the Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Virginia Beach where she graduated with honors. After her graduation she became pregnant with Zack and gave birth on the 18th of April 2007. Kelly then briefly worked for Southwest Airlines before moving to a job closer to home to spend more time with her son and family. Soon after, Kelly and Anthony met on the 19th of June in 2013. In 2014 Kelly started her pregnancy with Molly, who was born on the 24th of July 2015.
Anthony and Kelly bought some land and a home together and started their selfless journey of rescuing animals and raising their kids to respect and care for abandoned and injured wildlife. Kelly had a very nurturing character. She showed a fierce conviction in caring for her children, her neighbors, area homeless people, and many rescue animals. When Kelly loved someone or something, she loved with her entire being. Anyone who knew Kelly understood her amazing and selfless character. Kelly's laugh was something special; so contagious and infectious that nothing else seemed to matter when she started laughing.
Kelly valued family more than anything else in her life and her personality and empathy for others were remarkable. For those who knew Kelly, they are left with some amazing and unforgettable memories. Kelly's life will continue to be a positive influence on her children, her husband, her parents, and her extended family. Kelly just celebrated her 40th birthday and looked hopeful into the new year, however, unfortunately, Kelly passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023.
She was predeceased by her brother Robert "Bo" Edward Richardson III, her mom-mom and pop-pop Peggy and Nicholas Vlasveld, her aunt Jody Davis, and cousin Joshua Davis.
Kelly is survived by her loving husband Anthony Carter, her beloved children Zachary and Molly, her parents Robert and Carla Richardson, many family members, and rescue pets that she treated as family.
