Kelly Updyke Obituary

CANOGA, N.Y.- Kelly Marie Updyke, age 53, passed away on November 4, 2024 at 10:42 p.m., during her short, unexpected, and courageous fight with cancer.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, at 10 a.m. at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls.

Kelly was born on December 28, 1970 in Waterloo, N.Y. After this time, she grew up and went to school with her sister Lori Weeks and was raised by her parents LaVern Weeks and Diana Weeks. She graduated from Mynderse Academy in 1989 and then had two children with her high school sweetheart, Matthew Updyke, whom she then married on August 6, 1994. Throughout her life, Kelly built a career at Romulus Central School where she worked side by side with her mother, until her mother's retirement. She then continued to work thereafter for over twenty-five years until the day she passed. Kelly had a passion for cooking and her job and it showed in her ever-changing roles. She cared very much about the children she served within the school district and was dedicated to her job.

Kelly enjoyed a lot of things including listening to music, playing seek and find games on her computer, as an avid book reader, she could have kept a bookstore in business, spending time with her kids and family, completing puzzle books, playing Candy Crush, baking, and much more. She was a wonderful mother and wife. Kelly always did everything she could to help others, even those who didn't treat her so well. She was always dedicated to her kids and loved everyone in her family very much. She had a big heart and never really knew the significant positive impact that she had at home, at her job, and towards others in her personal life.

Kelly was predeceased by her mother, Diana Weeks; and her grandmother, Arlene Weeks.

She is survived by her father, Laverne Weeks; husband, Matthew Updyke; sister, Lori Weeks; children, Zackery Updyke and Kaitlyn Updyke, and many nieces and nephews.

Her presence in all those whose life she touched on a daily basis will be inevitably felt and missed.
