Kelsey L. McCarthy, 28, of New Milford, died Saturday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Liberty Twp., Susquehanna County.
Born Sept. 22, 1995, in Johnson City, N.Y., she was the daughter of James McCarthy and wife, Nicole, of Newfoundland and Amy Osborne McCarthy and companion, Jeff McDonald, of Forest City.
Kelsey was a graduate of Western Wayne High School and received her degree in early childhood education from the Fortis Institute. Kelsey had a special place in her heart for children and worked for several years at Ages and Stages Day Care in Waymart. A week ago, she accepted a position with Treasure House in Montrose, where she was excited to finally have her own classroom.
She cherished her two dogs, Poppy and Duncan. But most importantly Kelsey's family meant the world to her. She always made time for family visits and especially looked forward to game nights with her grandma McCarthy and the rest of the crew. Kelsey's passing has left her family and friends heart broken. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and caring person.
She is also survived by one sister, Lindsey Kwiec and husband, Paul, of Dunmore; a nephew, Owen Kwiec; her grandmother, Irene McCarthy, of Hallstead; her grandfather, Harry Osborne and wife, Linda, of Concord, N.C.; aunts and uncles, Margaret and Matt Pomes, and John and Jamie McCarthy; two special cousins who provided Kelsey with so much support, Nicole Cudo and Robert Warner; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her grandfather, John McCarthy; and her grandmother, Cynthia Osborne.
