Obituary of Ken Doane
William Kennedy Doane Jr., age 82 of Chuckey, TN passed away Saturday, May 6 after a brief illness. He was born August 2, 1940 in Kingsport, TN to William Kennedy Doane Sr. and Eleanor Carty Doane. Ken as he was known to many, moved to Chuckey in 1987. He was a pharmacist for over 40 years and worked at Holston Valley Medical Center, Mountain States Health Alliance in Johnson City, and several pharmacies in Kingsport, South West Virginia, and Greeneville, Tennessee.
Ken had a love for most anything that had wheels having owned several sports cars, trucks, and motorcycles. He also loved boating, spending most of his summers growing up and as an adult on Patrick Henry Lake. He also enjoyed his animals. Ken owned several horses, ostrich, and emu. He had a gift for gab and rarely met a stranger.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws Woodrow and Laverne Bachelor; brother in law Shelby Mixon; and sister in law Brenda Doane.
Ken is survived by his wife, Beryl Doane; his children, Kenny Doane of Chuckey, Jennifer Doane (Steve Lett) of Knoxville, Jeff Doane of Tusculum; brother Lynn Doane of Kingsport, sister in law Judith Mixon of Coldwater, MS; grandson Lane Doane of Greeneville; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send donations to the American Cancer Society.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
