Norma Doane

Norma B. Doane , 89, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at Primrose Memory Care in Newburgh, Indiana.

Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. She was united in marriage 72 years ago on December 13,1953 to Dr. Bob Doane at Newark General Baptist Church, and she is survived by Dr. Bob. Their marriage was a beautiful testimony of their love, faith and lifelong devotion. They lived this testimony for all to see.

She is survived by her children, Sharlet Ash(Johnny) and Vincent Doane. She was preceded in death by her two sons, Jerald S. Doane and Bobby Lee Doane, Jr. Three brothers Gerald Britton, James Britton and Raymond Britton.

Norma lived her life anchored in her faith in Jesus Christ. She loved serving the Lord in any way she could. She played the piano and organ for the church, was a member of the Woman's Missionary Society, she enjoyed helping out with Vacation Bible School and so much more for many years. Being a pastors wife meant so much to her. Her gentle spirit and servants heart touched so many.

She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Kristen Creasey, Jeremy Doane, John Nathan Ash (Kristen), Dustin Ash(Monica), Anthony Doane(Angela), Alec Doane, Zachary Doane, Makenzie Welch (Matt). She was also blessed eight Great Grandchildren ( Kamden, Avery, Lily, Lincoln, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Rowan), and two daughter in laws Carol Schlimmer, Cathy Doane.

Norma worked at Oakland City College as the Financial Aid Director and later worked for Dr. Henry Peters in Oakland City where she was known for her dedication and care of others.

As Norma sensed her earthly days were coming to an end, she expressed complete peace and trust in God's will to be done. She shared that she was looking forward to seeing her Master.

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 12, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM with funeral service immediately following at 3:00 PM at Lamb Basham Memorial Chapel in Oakland City, Indiana. The service will be officiated by Rev. Danny Barr. Interment will take place at Montgomery Cemetery following the service.
