Ken May Obituary

Ken May
Born: November 9, 1940 in Ringwood, IL
Died: May 8, 2025 in Rockford, IL
Kenneth "Ken" E. May, 84, of Rockford, passed away on May 8, 2025, at OSF St. Anthony Hospital. He was born on November 9, 1940, in Ringwood, Illinois, the son of George and Mary (Meyer) May. He married Christine "Chris" Cameron in 1979 in Rockford. Ken earned his associates degree from Rockford Business College and worked as a commercial loan officer for United Bank and Alpine Bank.
Ken was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church and spent many years as an Usher. He served on the board for OSF St. Anthony Hospital. Ken was a golf enthusiast; he loved watching pro golf and playing at the Forest Hills Country Club with his friends. Ken and Chris visited Florida where he enjoyed spending a lot of time on his lanai at their home. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and the stock market. His Saturday nights were spent going out to dinner with his family to his recent favorite pizza spot, Gerrys Pizza. He was very meticulous of his lawn and even earned "Lawn of the Month" multiple times. He enjoyed eating his Sunday night popcorn while feeding the birds and deer. Known as a stylish and composed man, Ken had a loving heart for his family and will forever be missed as a doting husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.
He is survived by those who loved him most, wife, Christine; daughters, Cindy Larson, Lori Tillman, and Becky (Kurt) Paquette; grandchildren, Katie (Val Honorable) Larson, Drew Tillman, Cody Tillman, Ian Paquette, and Hailey Paquette; great grandchildren, Aegaeon and Briseis Honorable; sister, Clarice Miller; brothers, Ron and Everett May; and special friends, Don and Marilyn May. He is predeceased by his parents, and sister, Sister Ruth May.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Morningstar Village and the 2nd floor ICU care team at OSF St. Anthony for their wonderful care of Ken.
A Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road Rockford, IL 61108, with a visitation prior to the service from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rockford Rescue Mission.

I worked at United Bank with Ken. He was such a caring loving man. I visited him at Sienna several years ago when seeing other friends. Ken will be missed and I pray that he is in God's loving arms.
