Ken Kawabe Mills, was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 25, 1967, and died unexpectedly at Home in Eastpointe, MI on September 4, 2025. He lived a loving, rewarding, determined, purpose-filled life. Ken was consistently present, active, and engaged in life until the day he no longer could. He was hopeful and encouraging, cherished his family and children especially his grandson, Zayn Brown age 5, and was a constant and devoted friend. He loved music, basketball, riding his bike, and loved to make everyone laugh.

Ken grew up in Detroit and was a proud graduate of Bishop Foley Catholic High School. He earned his Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate, where he made special and lasting friendships, and worked for Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. He would also transport hospital medical equipment to patients' homes and assisted them for additional patient care.

Music was his calling and Ken's passion where his dedication was evident by performing live concerts and as a studio musician. He was amazingly creative, an expert artist in drawing and painting. Ken also worked in graphic design for automotive design companies. Ken was also an excellent cook and Hannah, Aidan and his kids, family and friends all loved his cooking and that was one of his biggest joys in life.

Ken was preceded in death by parents, Ronald Lester and Reiko (Kawabe) Mills.

Ken is survived first and foremost by three children, Hannah Edwards of Waterford, Aidan Mills of Royal Oak and Ashleigh Mills. His adored grandson, Zayn Brown, and two sisters, Hideko Mills of Brighton, and Kimie Kitahara of Pinckney.
