Maxine Eloise Mills, age 91 of Flat Lick, Kentucky, departed this life on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Billy Don Mills, daughter to the late Hubert and Axie Jackson Lester, born to them on July 22nd 1934, also in Flat Lick, Kentucky.
Maxine was a long-time member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, shopping with her cousin Dorothy and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Don Mills, her parents, Hubert & Axie (Jackson) Lester, her daughter, Patty Mills Brown, son- in-law, Larry Brown, her sister Agnes Lester, brothers, Arnold Lester, Orange Lester, Earl Lester, Glen Lester and Vincent Lester.
Left behind to mourn her passing, two sons, Don Mills and husband Paco Zuniga of Los Angeles, California, Randy Mills and wife Connie of Flat Lick, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Randi Nichole Mills, Joshua Graham Mills (Jennifer) and Elizabeth Hope Jones (Adam), eight great-grandchildren, Cassie Hale (Natasha), Kirsten Fuson, Madison Fuson, Abigail Jones, Mady Drew Barnes, Khloe Mills, Ava Jones & Claire Jones, a special nephew of Don and Paco, Victor Zuniga, two special little boys, Hayden and Kyson King, best friend Dorothy Jackson and two dear friends, Sherry Mays and Dorothy Smith, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and other friends.
Funeral services for Maxine Mills will be conducted on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Turkey Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Partin, Rev. Lonnie Collett and Rev. Eli Broughton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Binghamtown Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Justin King, Jeremy King, Don Hayes Hammons, Glen Mills, Frankie Robinson, Chandler Bargo, Leo Williams, Lee Guess, Mike Broughton, Mike Walker and Bruce Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be, Earl Hammons, Jr., Rev. Cleo Goodlett, Jim Stewart and all members of the Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to send special thanks to the nurses of Bluegrass Care Navigators who were so caring and kind to Maxine and the family.
Friends will be received at the church on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.
