Wilburn Jack Powell, age 78 of Bimble, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his home. He was born on December 20, 1947, in Knox County, the son of Coleman Jack Powell and Mary (Payne) Powell.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Mary Powell his wife Bonnie Powell and a brother, Bobby Powell.
Jack believed in the Baptist faith and was a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Chrysler Corporation after thirty years before moving back to Kentucky. He was a deputy sheriff in Knox County for several years and had been a Hampton Funeral Home employee since 1997. He had also been the former owner of Chevron Gas Station in Barbourville. Jack loved to attend car shows and rebuild antique cars to add to his collection. He also enjoyed being around people and having a good laugh.
Left behind to mourn his passing, his daughter Tiffany Pawlak and husband Dr. Dustin J. Pawlak, his grandchildren, Addison and Dalton Pawlak all of Georgia, his girlfriend, Melinda Hobbs of Bimble, her daughter, Tiffany Collins and husband Cody and grandchildren, Harlee Collins and Raylyn Collins all of Bryant Store. He also leaves behind his Dairy Queen buddies, his funeral home family, his very special friends, Vickie and E.G. Abner and all his friends who stopped by to check on him during his illness.
Funeral services will be held in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Barnard and Rev. James Vandy officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Payne Family Cemetery at Bimble. Pallbearers will be, Jeff Corey, Mike Corey, Bob Corey, Micah Corey, Sawyer Corey and Rodney Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be all the staff at Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m.
