James William “Logan” Powell
December 11, 1982 – March 9, 2026
James William Logan Powell, of Sweetwater, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026.
Logan was preceded in death by his life partner of over nine years, Ms. Sheri Millard; his father, Edward Powell; his mother, Mary Rogers Crisp; and his stepmothers; Dianne Powell and Gale Powell.
He is survived by Sheri’s children, Amanda Millard, Allison Millard, Alexis Millard, David Luedecke, Elijah Shrewsbury, Bentley Shrewsbury, and Mackenzie Millard, as well as Sheri’s grandchildren, Noah Millard, Emma Millard, Jace Massengill, and Everlee Massengill, whom he embraced as his own. He is also survived by his stepsisters, Jennifer Davis, Crystal Mason, and Lesa Shultz; and by his co-farmers and best friends, Mike and Jordan Mason.
Logan graduated from Sweetwater High School with the Class of 2001 and a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Sweetwater Lodge #280, since May 25, 2001. Following in his father’s footsteps, Logan developed a deep passion for agriculture and farming. His happiest days were spent on the farm, surrounded by family and friends. Logan was a man of brilliant intellect and genuine warmth, known as the “nice” guy who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He held a deep admiration for history and had a remarkable gift for storytelling. With quick wit and contagious humor, he could captivate any audience. Those who truly knew Logan were touched by his tender heart and gentle kindness, and were given the gift of laughter through his wonderfully dry sense of humor. His memory will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
A private funeral will be held at Sweetwater Memory Gardens, followed by a family memorial tree planting at the family cabin in Tellico.
