Kendrick Johnson

Kendrick Ke-Juan Johnson, 52, answered the call to join his family on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. He transitioned peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home, where he was welcomed into eternity by his loving parents, Vickie Laquatta Johnson and Robert Davis. Kenderick is now reunited with his beloved parents. Also preceding him in his journey are his maternal grandparents, Lillian Ruth Johnson (affectionately known as "Poolie") and Willie L. Johnson; paternal grandparents, Priscilla and Harold Davis. He was also preceded by a very special aunt, Valerie Johnson-Johnson; brother, more than cousin, Cedric Workman; Niece, Miracle Williams; and a host of aunts, cousins, and friends who held a dear place in his heart.

Kenderick was a proud member of the Asheville High School Class of 1992. He was a member of St. Luke AME Zion Church and a member of the junior choir, Sunday school and other christian programs.

Kendrick began his career with the Land of the Sky Gymnastics Program as a gymnastic and cheerleader coach under Ms. Fogle, the director. He instructed many students and enjoyed every moment. Kendrick provided priivate instruction at Premier, Odessey and most recently with Fearless. He coached many children who competed locally and state wide in cheerleading. Just prior to his death, his students participated in competiton in Charlotte, NC. Kendrick was so enthused and proud of the young ladies. Gymnastics was his life and the smiles and laughter with cheerleading made him so happy and proud.

Kendrick leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, a devoted partner of 35 years, Natasha Watkins, the apple of his eye; beloved children, Kavon Watkins (Brannyn), KeShay Watkins and Ke-Juan Watkins (Myiah); treasured grandchildren, Zyona Watkins, Zeaira Watkins, Kannan Watkins, Navy Watkins, Crew Watkins and Honest Watkins. He will also be deeply missed by very special family friends, T.Y. and Lakeisha Williams, Marcio Workman and Kenyatta Davenport, who share the sibling connection more than cousins; special aunt, Beverly Johnson-Workman; other surviviors, include brother, Dana Campbell and sisters, Terri Lynch and Conita Whitmire.

Kendrick's life was a testament to the bonds of family and the strength of his spirit. Though he has moved on to a place of rest, his memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.Kendrick leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished moments that his family and friends will carry forward.
