Kendrick Maurice Rutherford, 25, passed away, Monday, April 14th, 2025 in Lubbock, TX. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, May 1st, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
Kendrick was born September 15th, 1999, in Lubbock, TX to Michael Rutherford and Vernice Rutherford. Ken-Ken enjoyed and loved rapping, cooking, playing dominoes, raising dogs, sports, and high-siding with family.
Kendrick;s smile was joy in its purest form. To know him was to love him. He loved, cherished, and adored all of his children, with one on the way. Kendrick graduated from Monterey High School.
Kendrick is preceded in death by his grandfather Donald Ray Willard, grandfather Jerry Clarence Rutherford, great grandmother Myrtle Young, great grandfather Marvin Dickson, great grandmother Carry Jane Ross, great great grandmother Martha Rutherford, great great grandmother Mattie Taylor, and nephew Cordé Tillman.
Kendrick leaves to cherish his memory, his father Michael Rutherford (Natashia Tutt), his mother Vernice Rutherford (Robert Johnson-stepdad), his grandmother Debra Dickson White, grandmother Patricia Larry, life partner Mikayla Pruitt, his daughters Anayeli Rutherford Johnson, Avianna Rutherford, Aurbre’ana Rutherford (Victoria Rebmann), Amara Jackson (Alexis Smithie), his sons Jack'arious Rutherford Johnson, JaKeem Rutherford Johnson, JaKevion Rutherford Johnson, (JaKeevia Johnson), Amear Rutherford (baby on the way), his step children Jaxson Williams, Ja’lhani Williams, Jeminiah Williams, his siblings Kamisha Rutherford, Ambroshai Young, Michael Rutherford, Jr., Samiya Rutherford (Cris), Nedra Hubbard, Felicity Rutherford, his god siblings Dorkish Dickson (Diamond), JaQuetta Manahan (Broderick), and Barbra Brown (Xavier), his nieces and nephews Ka'Niyah Rutherford Anderson, Mea’Lani Jimenez, Ruben Vasquez, Javarien Tillman, Ja Priest Young, Amiri Brantley, La’Niyah Brown, Brenley Brown, Layanna Rutherford, Marshayn Brown, and Zay'la Brown, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, loved ones, and friends.
Kendrick will truly be missed and his memories will forever be embedded in our hearts.
