Kenneth Wayne Abdo, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. He was born on November 14, 1938, in Houston, Texas, to Alice Saccar Abdo and Gus Abdo.
Kenneth was the firstborn son of his parents and a lifelong Texan. He graduated from Heights/Reagan High School in 1958. Demonstrating his deep sense of patriotism, he enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard in October 1956, proudly serving two, three-year terms. During his service as an Airman Second Class with the 147th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Kenneth exemplified dedication and commitment. He was honorably discharged in October 1962, and his service to our country remained a source of immense pride throughout his life.
On July 19, 1968, Kenneth married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Boullion Abdo. Barbara's career as an inhalation therapist led her to meet Kenneth, while treating his father Gus, and ultimately paved the way for their enduring love story. Their loving partnership spanned 55 years, filled with cherished memories and unwavering support.
Kenneth's faith was central to his life, and he was a longtime member of the Northside Assembly of God. He loved playing the piano and played entirely by ear, bringing joy to those around him with his musical talent. He also had a passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing in the bountiful waters of Galveston Bay. He found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of casting a line and enjoying the beauty of nature.
Kenneth was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Barbara, and his son, Curtis Abdo. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family.
He is survived by his sons, Travis Abdo and wife Bridget, Marcus Abdo and wife Joyce; daughter-in-law Brenda Parker Abdo, and his brother John Abdo. He will be dearly missed by his cherished grandchildren: Brittani, Aaron, Josh, Cameron, Damian, Carlee, Maggie, Blake, and Megan.
Kenneth's memory will be forever held in the hearts of his family and friends.
