Kenneth K. Allow, 78, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at his home in
Kissimmee, Florida. Kenneth was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad to Evelyn and Leon Alow. As the oldest of nine children, he started working at a young age to support his family, while also pursuing his education. He worked plucking chickens, at a supermarket, at an ice cream factory, and as a DJ. Employers recognized Ken as hard-working, resourceful, and dependable and often promoted him to managerial roles. As a youth, he enjoyed cricket and soccer and was a part of a soccer club. He attended Osmond High School until dropping out in his 4th year of high school to work full-time.
Ken was an entrepreneur and skilled craftsman who loved working with his hands. In 1970, at the age of 23, he opened a leather goods store where he made caps, belts, and sandals. He taught himself to sew on his mom's unused sewing machine. In 1977, he left Trinidad and moved to Brookyln, NY finding work as a sewing machine operator for a home goods brand.
In 1979, he met and married Laura Allow of
Newark, NJ, where they would settle to raise their daughter Alezandria. In 1989, he started his own handyman business, Keal Construction and Repairs. He earned his GED and attended Union County Vocational School to study construction methods, blueprint reading, and carpentry. He worked in the
Newark, NJ area for many years doing home repairs and renovations until retiring in 2006. In 2008, he moved to
Kissimmee, Florida where until his death, he would continue to help family, neighbors, and friends with home repairs. He loved the beach, watching soccer and westerns, and good food, especially from his homeland. Always willing to give a helping hand, he will be remembered as a generous and beloved neighbor, friend, uncle, brother, and father.
Left to cherish his memory are daughter Alezandria Turner; son-in-law Howard J. Turner; grandchildren Kaylee Turner, Shiloh Turner, and August Turner; former spouse Laura Allow; siblings Myron Garnes, Martin Garnes, Meeling Alow Gopie, Marilyn Eve, Johnson Alow, Amoy Alow Mohammed, and John Alow. He was blessed with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews including: nieces Marina Gopie, Kimberly Gopie, Raquel Kirby Perry, and Rachel Mohammed Deda; nephews Rayard Mohammed, Richard Mohammed, Jermaine Aberdeen, Quincy Aberdeen, Teniko Eve, and Jahde Eve; and great-nephew Kai Eve. He is preceded in death by his mother Evelyn Alow, father Leon Alow, and brother Winston Allow.
