Kenneth Eugene Ayers In Bristol, Tenn., on Saturday, September 18, 2010, Kenneth Eugene Ayers, age 77, was received home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Kenneth was born in Richmond, Virginia on April 22, 1933 to Ulysses "Pete" Ayers and Edith Nuckols Ayers. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, he served in the U.S. Navy for two years, later graduating from University of Richmond and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Susan, of 42 years, four children and their spouses, Greg (Mary Kay), Cherise (Bruce Wenger), John (Jennifer), Daniel (Stephanie) and eleven grandchildren: Stephen, Laura, David, Ben, Phillip, Tim, Kathryn, Caleb, Maddie, Dane, and Caroline. Kenneth's ministry for God spanned 55 years, serving in 19 churches in Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina, Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee, Iowa, West Virginia, and England.

Kenneth was a true caring friend and father, who helped many people through difficult times, sharing the good news about God's love for them. He believed in trusting God for the impossible and recounted some of his walk with God in his book entitled "Flying in Clouds". He lived life with zeal and vigor, riding his bicycle 17 miles and teaching his Sunday School class hours before his sudden illness. After which, he was comfortably cared for by the wonderful staff and volunteers at Wellmont Hospice. Kenneth finished strong. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7

We were shocked and sad to hear about Bro. Ken's homegoing. We have to smile though just thinking about that ever present smile on his face. Just think how big that smile is now!!!! We loved him so much and will miss just knowing he was "there" if we ever needed him. We send lots of love to all of you. With deepest sympathy---Justine and Shirley
