Kenneth L. Bejune, 83, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024. He leaves his wife Mary H. (Belforti) Bejune of 57 years, his son Daniel and wife Deborah (Mosman) of Southfield, Michigan, his son Matthew Bejune and wife Kathleen (Lester) of Worcester, and four cherished grandsons Benjamin, Jacob, George, and Theodore. He also leaves two sisters-in-law Linda (Belforti) Hajek and her husband Peter of North Carolina, and Marjorie Bejune of Florida, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ken was the youngest son of Homer F. Bejune and Marie A. (LaPointe) (Benoit) Bejune. He was predeceased by brothers Armand Benoit, and Frank, Milton, Richard, Homer, and Edward Bejune.
Ken graduated from Commerce High School in 1958 and received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Worcester State College in 1962 and 1968 respectively. Ken taught mathematics in the Worcester Public Schools for 37 years at the former Providence St. Junior High School and at North High School from which he retired in 1999. Mr. Bejune was a member of the National Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, and the Education Association of Worcester.
Ken spent many years volunteering for Ted Williams Little League, and he loved building sets and working on the stage crew for theater productions at Holy Name High School. He treasured daily walks with lifelong friends from the Grafton Hill neighborhood. Many of the world's problems were discussed and settled over coffee following those walks.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Rose Monahan Hospice Home for their wonderful care and compassion during the last weeks of Ken's life.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and a memorial service at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 4th at Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. At the request of the family, the burial will be private and held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ken's honor may be made to either the Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (https://www.jimmyfund.org/ways-to-give/giving/), or St. John's Food for the Poor Program (https://www.stjohnsfoodforthepoor.org/).
