Obituary of Kenneth Edward Berlin
March 23, 1943 – June 26, 2025
Kenneth Edward Berlin. Age 82 of Detroit.
Kenneth passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at his home in Brownstown, MI.
Born on March 23, 1943, Kenneth was the youngest son of Lester Berlin and Evelyn (nee: Kasmer) Berlin, who preceded him in death. He grew up on the east side of Detroit, attended Our Lady of Good Counsel for elementary school, and graduated from St. Joseph High School. Ken spent much of his career working for the BUDD Company (also known as BUDD Wheel), where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He was also a proud and active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Kenneth was admired for his warm spirit, infectious laughter, and steadfast devotion to his family. He formed lasting friendships and cherished memories throughout his life, especially with his brothers and his close-knit community. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures - tinkering with home renovation projects, taking road trips, and especially the time he purchased a 1957 Chrysler Imperial, one of the first cars to feature air conditioning. He took immense pride in that car, a memory still fondly shared by his family.
As the youngest of four boys, Kenneth held deep admiration for his older brothers. He especially enjoyed visiting the mountains of North Carolina to spend time with his brother Robert Berlin, who also preceded him in death. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Kenneth was a devoted husband, proud father, treasured grandfather, and loyal brother. He lit up every family gathering with his storytelling and quick wit. He was a passionate Detroit Lions fan, and he cherished traveling with his wife and grandchildren, making memories that will live on for generations.
In his later years, as his health declined, Kenneth was lovingly supported by his wife, Stephanie Berlin; his devoted stepdaughter, Jessica White; and two of his deeply cherished granddaughters, Miya Severino and Stephanie Burroughs. Their care and presence meant the world to him in his final chapter.
Kenneth is survived by his wife and lifelong companion, Stephanie Berlin; his treasured daughter, Michelle Berlin; his supportive stepchildren, Sharae Burroughs, Jessica White, and Justin (Melinda) White; and his adored grandchildren, Stephanie, Constance, Twyla, Miya, Gabriella, and Oliver. He is also survived by his devoted brothers, Gary (Lorraine) and Lester (Cynthia); his caring sister-in-law, Shirley Berlin (wife of the late Robert Berlin); and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will continue to honor his memory. He will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for the joy, compassion, and strength he brought into the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
