Kenneth "Dick" R. Chaires Sr., age 76, of Georgetown DE, formerly of Kemblesville and Glen Mills, PA died Sunday February 17, 2013 at the Beebe Hospital in Lewes DE. He was the husband of Faytha King Chaires, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Glen Mills, PA he was a son of the late Kenneth A. Chaires and the late Pearl Scull Chaires. Kenneth was proud to have recently graduated from high school. He was an auto body painter all of his career working for several auto body businesses in Delaware County and briefly in Chester County. He enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay, playing with his poodles Moose, Lucy and Callie and he adored his family. Survivors include in addition to his wife Fay, three sons, Kenneth R. Chaires Jr. (Cindy) of Cochranville, PA, Thomas A. Chaires (Cynthia) of Avondale, PA and Robert Illingsworth of Elkton MD; two daughters, Carol E. Bauder (Daniel) of Huntertown IN, and Crystal M. Bryan of Elkton MD; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter Charlotte A. Peiffer, two brothers, John and Roland and two sisters, Jean and Sylvia. You are invited to visit with Kenneth's family from 9-11AM Thursday February 21, 2013 at the Avondale Presbyterian Church 420 Pennsylvania Ave (Route 41) Avondale PA 19311. His funeral service will follow at 11AM. Interment will be in New London Presbyterian Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Lung Association 527 Plymouth Road, Suite 403 Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
