Kenneth Chan Obituary

Published by Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home - Mechanicsville from Feb. 20 to Feb. 21, 2021.
Kenneth Anthony Chan was born on April 11, 1980 to Kenneth Augustine and Amy Ifill Chan. Kenneth was born into a large and loving family and was the sixth of seven children. He was a District Heights, Maryland native. He was educated in Prince George's County Public Schools where he attended District Heights Elementary, Francis Scott Key Middle, and Suitland High School. He also earned credits when he attended Rutgers University. Kenneth was a student that made his presence known inside the classroom and was the leader amongst his peers. While at Suitland, he took a special interest in his automotive class and created his own homework while repairing family vehicles in the driveway. Along with his automotive skills, Kenneth also earned HVAC and Weight Training certificates.

He did his best work with his hands, so it was second nature to see him under a car, making home repairs or working the weights. Kenneth's "Mr. Fix It" talents and skills led him into serial entrepreneurship, which led to him founding multiple businesses becoming the CEO of ReRange Construction, 360 Courier and Delivery LLC and G&K Automotive. His clients trusted him with their restoration, construction and home improvement projects. There was no job too big or too small and he took great pride in every project. The photos of his work and referrals from his satisfied clients was the only business card he needed. Clients were ready and waiting for Kenneth to put his "designed with an organized mind" touch on their home.

Kenneth's most admirable work was captivating the hearts of the children around him, serving as father figure to many and was considered the "greatest uncle" by his 4-year old great niece.

When Kenneth wasn't the king of construction, he was the king of adventure. On both land and sea, he had a need for speed and a love for cars, motorcycles and jet skis. He loved traveling and vacationing in warm climates where he could spend hours at sea riding the waves on a jet ski. His final travels took him to heaven, where he was met by his father and brother Joseph, who preceded him in death.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Kenneth is survived by his mother, Amy Chan; one sister, Kay Nicole; four brothers, Ancil, Sheldon, Myron and Gerald; six nieces, Kn'Cole, Meka, Da'Jah, Ashley, Armani and Dana; two nephews, Ancil and Austin; great-niece, Jaia; great-nephew; Ja'Quan; two aunts, Ann and Mable; six cousins, Wendy, Curtis, Alicia, Suzanne, Nancy, Betty and Shamfa; five surrogate children, Desmond, Kayla, Nalayza, Lucas, and Semaj; god-son, Mason; god-mother Jennifer; god-sister Janelle and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth; one brother Milton; five aunts Agatha, Judith, Silvia, Cora and Royal; two uncles Lancelot and Selby.

Family and friends will unite on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 10:00am until time of service 11:00am at St. Augustine Church 1419 V Street NW, Washington, DC 20009. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Washington, DC.
