Ricardo Talento Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 2, 2026.
Ricardo (Rick) Diezmo Talento, 94, of District Heights, Maryland, peacefully passed away on February 1, 2026. Rick was born in Capalonga, Camarines Norte, Philippines, on May 7, 1931, one of ten children to the late Mr. Bernardo and Mrs. Felipa Talento. Rick was predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years, Belen V. Talento in 2024. He was also predeceased by six of his siblings, and his sons-in-law Jay Perrone, 2007, and Rick Keim, 2009.

Rick was a dedicated military man who served in the Philippine Navy and subsequently the United States Navy. He was the very first of the Talento family to leave the Philippines when he moved his young family to the United States in 1963. One of his proudest moments was becoming a United States citizen. He continued serving his country and had a lifelong career of twenty-five years in the US Navy. His retirement was short-lived as he began a second career as an editor for the Environmental Protection Agency for over fifteen years.

Rick's lifelong goal was to provide and care for his family. He was the epitome of hard work and perseverance. His children thought that all dads went to school at night to earn a college degree from the University of Maryland, sold shoes on the nights he didn't have school, all while working full-time for the US Navy. He was most joyful spending time with his beloved wife and the family they created. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was also an avid gardener who every season, was proud of the vegetables and flowers he would grow and share with family, neighbors, and friends. Luckily, he passed on his green thumb to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing tennis, watching the stock market, investing and trading. His children often referred to him as the Asian Warren Buffet.

Rick lived a long life full of purpose; he will be missed by so many. He leaves behind his four children and their families: daughters Leticia (Letty) Perrone, Virginia (Gigi) Keim, Patricia (Patty) Campbell and her husband John, and son Ricardo "Rick" V. Talento Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth. He is survived by his grandchildren: Valerie Belen (Jon)Crozier, Richard (Kristine) Perrone, Patrick Strietz, Emily Belen (Jacob) Murillo, Ryan (Lauren) Talento, Rachael Talento, and Zachary Talento. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Ava and Jack Crozier, Lia and Chloe Perrone, Sophia Talento, and almost here, great grandbaby Murillo.

A private family Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 14th.
