Romualdo "Romy" D. Talento, 87, passed away on July 28, 2025, peacefully in his home with family by his side. He was born February 7, 1938, in Capalonga, Philippines; the son of Bernard and Felipa Talento.

He married the love of his life, Scindia, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1963. They shared 54 years together before she passed away. Together they raised six children: Romualdo II "Ron" (Diana), Felipa (Jim), Kathy, Berny (Angel), Eileen (Jim), and Michael (Catherine). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Anthony (Erika), Alyssa (Ethan), Chris (Brittany), Marcus (Rosie), Joshua (McKenzie), Rachel, Joel, Nicole, Elizabeth, Zach, Taylor, Joseph, and Hope. His legacy continues through his great grandchildren: Elianah, Kylee, Zachary, Elijah, Tirzah, Noah, Sarah, Lydia, Jonah, and Evelyn.

He is predeceased by sisters Natalia and Regina, and brothers Natividad, Venerando, Lito, and Resureccion. He is survived by sister Gloria and brothers Angel, Ricardo, and Donato.

He retired from the U. S. Navy, after serving 21 years, including in country service during the Vietnam War with the U.S Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 121. He served another 9 years in the Navy reserves and 16 years as a Chief Steward for the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). He also worked at many local establishments including The Kettle Restaurant, Virginia National Golf Club, C&M Cafeteria, Naval Amphibious Base CPO Club, The Black Angus, and Waffle Town USA.

He was a devout catholic and was a member of the Naval Amphibious Base Chapel for many years and later St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.

The love and devotion to family was most important to him. He enjoyed fishing with his grandkids, cooking, and especially baking cakes and cookies. Sharing meals with family was one of his favorite things to do. His approach to living life and helping others was an inspiration for the entire family. His smile at family functions will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Hollomon Brown Funeral Home – Princess Anne, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a short funeral service with military honors at 1 p.m., and then a Celebration of Life reception at the home of his daughter, Kathy Talento. A Committal Service will be held at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 10 a.m.
