Stephen Mark "Steve" Scherr

Stephen "Steve" Mark Scherr passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, succumbing to a six month battle after suffering complications from a medical procedure. Steve was born on July 1, 1954 in Midland, Texas to Ivan and Florence (Wood) Scherr.

Steve was raised mostly in Texas and graduated from Plano, (Texas) High School in 1972. He attended Southwest Texas State University.

Steve worked in the marina industry for more than 50 years. He was the co- owner and operator of Don's Port Marina in Tool, TX. until 1995, when he took a position with Marinas International. Steve served one term as the President of the Marina Association of Texas. After moving to Virginia in 2004, he worked for several different boat dealerships before beginning a 17 year career as a Broker with Knot 10 Yacht Sales.

As accomplished as Steve was in his career, his greatest joy in life was being a father. From the moment Keenan entered this world, Steve scheduled his life around his son's activities. He spent many years coaching and cheering Keenan on the baseball field.

Steve is survived by his wife of 29 years, Paige, of Virginia Beach, VA., his son Keenan and daughter-in-law Krista of Mooresville, NC., He's also survived by sister Kaye Rogers and her husband Darrell of Tyler, TX and brother Jeff Scherr and his wife Sheryl of Spicewood, TX. Steve is also survived by many cousins, in laws, nieces and grand-nieces, nephews and grand-nephews.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Florene Scherr.

A come and go reception with a BBQ Dinner will be held on Friday, March 6th 5:00PM-7:30PM at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Princess Anne Chapel (3445 Princess Anne Rd Virginia Beach, VA 23456). In lieu of flowers a donation in Steve's honor may be made to the Virginia Beach SPCA.
