Kenneth Eugene Cox, 74, of
Wentzville, Missouri- fondly known as KC- passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of mentorship, laughter, and a lifelong devotion to
Ohio sports.
KC was born in
Barberton, Ohio in 1951 to John Cox and Lyn (Napier) Cox. While his family moved frequently, he attended several schools and became adept at making friends quickly. KC graduated from Chattanooga High School before studying computer science at York College. His social nature and desire to share knowledge with others led to him mentoring a young man
through the Big Brother program. KC enjoyed a successful career in computer programming until retiring in 2003. Upon retirement, he spent his time leisurely playing golf and watching any
sports game he could find on TV.
KC met his future wife, Theresa, in 1985 while at a TipToppers Club Meeting. This was a club exclusively for tall individuals living in the St. Louis area. Theresa eventually decided KC
measured up (at 6'5" tall) and the two were married on September 1, 1990 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Kirkwood, Missouri. KC and Theresa enjoyed spending time with their friends from the Ohio State Alumni St. Louis Chapter whom they enjoyed gathering with to watch Ohio State Football games.
Everyone who knew KC knew how much he loved sports-particularly any sport from the state of Ohio (his favorites include Ohio State and Cleveland Brown football). When physically able, KC
could be found on the golf course trying to perfect his game or sharing pro tips with others. He was also a champion at ping pong! When KC was not able to play his sports, he could be found
watching them at home or joining his St. Louis Browns Backers Fan Club at local hangouts to boisterously cheer his team on.
KC was preceded in death by his father, John Cox, his mother, Lyn Napier, and his uncle, Eugene Cox. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Cox, sister, Lora Williams (JB), and a large extended family including his sister-in-law, Catherine Ohmes (Mark), brother-in-law, Delmon Asher III (Pam), nieces Jennifer Smith (Todd), Jacqueline Sanders, Andrea Keene, and Tiffany Asher, nephews Delmon Asher IV (Melissa) and Anthony Ohmes, and many great nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in KC's name may be made to The Emmaus Home (emmaushomes.org) or The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (give.bcrf.org).
The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home in Wentzville.
