Kenneth Burr Detwiler, 83, of Bismarck,ND. and formerly of Big Springs, Ne. passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 in the Bismark, ND. He was born on July 19, 1941, in Galion, Ohio, the son of Burr Albert and Ida Mae (Edgell) Detwiler. He attended school at Edison, Ohio, where he graduated in 1960. From 1963-67, he served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Little Rock AFB in Little Rock, Arkansas, then in France until they left NATO in 1966, and then at Lockbourne AFB in Dayton Ohio. He served as a jet engine and automobile mechanic during his four-year term. After serving, Kenneth & Rosalyn moved to Columbus Ohio. It was while he was serving that he married Rosalyn (Rosie) B. Fraizer in the Methodist Church in Edison, Ohio on April 8, 1965. After his time serving in the Air Force, he worked at North Electric in Columbus Ohio and then worked and managed a SOHIO station doing maintenance on vehicles and pumping gas. In 1977, the couple moved to the Ogallala and Big Springs area. They worked in the Nebraska and Colorado area until they moved to North Dakota in May 2014. Kenny held several jobs using his talents and interests over the years. He and Rosie managed the Elm's motel and the gas station for a short time in Ogallala NE before he went to work for Kohl motors doing mechanic work. He then worked for Richard's & Associates assembling high voltage power towers and running power lines out of Sutherland NE to the west. It was after this that he started doing what he really loved to do as he started to farm, working for Darrell & Darlene Armstrong for many years and then getting into potato farming with Diamond Hills Farm out of Alliance NE and Western Potatoes out of Holyoke CO. He used to always joke about checking Lay's potato chip bags to see where they came from because maybe they were his. He retired from what he loved doing in 2014. Among his hobbies were watching television, target shooting, camping, and he loved to be outdoors working on the yard, and spending time with the pets around the house.
