Kenneth Kyburz Obituary

Kenneth "Eugene" Kyburz, 87, Idaville, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He had been in declining health over the last few months.

Eugene was born Dec. 15, 1935, in Logansport to Levi E. and Emma Jean (Heistand) Kyburz. On March 8, 1959, he was married to Judith "Judy" J. Brockman in the Idaville First Church of God. She preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 1994.

Eugene attended and graduated from Monticello High School in 1954. He served in the US Army National Guard for seven years.

Eugene was 28 years old when he made a promise to his dying father to take care of his mother, to look after his younger brother and to maintain the family farm. He fulfilled that promise and then some. Eugene and Judy raised their six children on the farm where they mostly grew corn and soybeans and raised livestock including cattle, sheep and pigs. He delighted in the grandchildren and great-grandchildren's joy of being on the farm. He supported the White County 4-H program and enjoyed opening the farm for friends to prepare their animals for show. Eugene was affiliated with the White County 4-H program for over 55 years, was named an Honorary Shepard by the White County Sheep Association for 30 plus years of service and had lent a hand to at least 20 exhibitors.

In addition to farming Eugene and his wife owned and operated Kyburz Pumpkins for 39 years. He immensely enjoyed watching all the kids picking out their various pumpkins and gourds and visiting with all the customers.

Eugene liked listening to Paul Harvey, older country music, dancing, and watching Westerns and Johnny Carson.

He unconditionally loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. Eugene always enjoyed and looked forward to visits with them. He will be greatly missed!

Surviving Eugene are children, Eugenia (Michael "Mike") Duhnovsky, Jayne (Paxton) Snowberger, and Emily (Bruce) Wilson, all of Monticello, Michael "Mike"(Lori) Kyburz, Idaville, Melinda (Heath) Provo, West Lafayette; grandchildren, Carmen (Randall) MacOwan, Ashley (Riley) Tolen, Garrett Duhnovsky (fiancée Dayna Gumm), Gabrielle Snowberger, McKenna Wilson, Paul and Preston Wilson, Maranda (Hunter) Bartlett, Morgan (Cole) Goodman, Austin Kyburz, Levi Kyburz (companion Faith Richardson), Austin (Shaneese) Ohman, McKenzie Ohman (fiancé Jake Norwell); great-grandchildren, Isaac Purcell (fiancée Ashlyn Dause), Carson Purcell, Addison Maxson, Ryker Wilson, Kiera and Cody Wilson, Wyatt Holt, Walker Bartlett; Emerie Goodman, Kenneth Kyburz, Hunter, Ahleigha, Laila, and Maelyn Ohman, Jarrett Norwell, Baby Goodman and Baby Bartlett on the way; great-great-grandchild on the way, Baby Purcell; siblings, Joan (Doran) Wallace, Idaville, Douglas "Doug" (Billie) Kyburz, Idaville; brother-in-law, Jim Hunt, Idaville; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Such a wonderful uncle. He was a special man. When I was younger and spent the night with Eugenia, he used to tease me about cutting my ears off. Was scared of him then, lol. I love you Uncle Eugene.
