Kenneth Jerald Flaming

Kenneth Jerald Flaming, 84, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 16 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born February 6, 1941, to Manuel and Mary Flaming in Cordell, Oklahoma.
He attended grade school in Cordell, Oklahoma. During this time, he asked Jesus into his heart. Later he attended and graduated from Corn Bible Academy where he sang in the choir and quartet.
Kenneth met the love of his life, Sara, and married her on June 7, 1959, in Corn, Oklahoma. This marriage was blessed with two precious children, Teresa (Flaming) Short and Greg Flaming.
Ken grew up on his folk's farm and then began his farming operation in 1959 and started a dairy in 1960. He continued farming until 1976 when he felt God call him to the Go Ye Ministry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Several years later he returned to Corn, Oklahoma, and expanded his farming operation. While running his farming operation, Ken got his college education, graduating from SWOSU, and then began his first teaching job at Corn Bible Academy. In 1993, Ken sold his farm equipment and became headmaster at Markoma Bible Academy in Tahlequah, Oklahoma for several years. Then the Flamings moved to Fairview, Oklahoma, to be closer to their grandchildren.
Ken actively served in his home church by teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and participating on various committees. He also filled the pulpit in several churches that were searching for a pastor. Ken and Sara shared the gospel on many mission trips until 2018. Even in Ken's last years at Baptist Village Communities, he was sharing his testimony and the gospel with folks that cared for him or crossed his path.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Sara Flaming; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa (Flaming) and Wendell Short; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Sandra Flaming; grandchildren, Jordan and wife, Shelby Short, Risa (Short) and husband, Preston Hudson, and Andrea Short; and great grandchildren, Mila and Boaz Hudson, and Hadley and Sadie Short.

Visitation at Mercer-Adams will be Friday, 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 10:30am, at First Baptist Church of Piedmont.
