Kenneth Forcier Obituary

Kenneth Mark Forcier (Penacook, NH) passed away on May 30th surrounded by loved ones after suffering a stroke. Ken was born on November 22, 1952 to Roland and Katherine Forcier in Manchester, NH.

Ken was an avid golfer. His love for the sport began at a very young age when he worked at Derryfield Country Club. He played every chance he could and he will be dearly missed by those who connected with him through the game.

After graduating from Memorial High School (Class of 1970), he began his career as a Master Barber. Ken served with the Navy in the Vietnam War where he cut hair for officers on the USS Saratoga. He later owned and operated his own barbershop right in Manchester where he loved visiting with clients chatting about last nights' Boston sports game.

Ken is survived by his wife, Sandy, his daughter Tiffany and her husband John Shea, granddaughters, Kaila, Amelia and Olivia (Concord, NH), his brother Greg Forcier and wife Wendy (Florida) and his sister Cindy Audet and husband Gary (Manchester). Ken is survived by several nieces and nephews and many many friends and clients.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday June 13th at 11:00AM at Grace Capital Church (542 Pembroke St., Pembroke, NH). The family has asked that those attending honor Ken by wearing their favorite Patriots gear and bring a written story about him so we can create a book of memories about his great life.

Sharing a building with Ken for five years was a blessing in many ways. I gave me the opportunity to become a friend to an amazing, thoughtful man. I was always excited to have any interaction with Ken. There was always a smile and a great conversation. It was always my thing to fix the carpet in front of the door as I left his shop. We now use Ken´s space for offices. I still fix the carpet by that door every day and think of Ken every time! Ken you will always be missed and never forgotten. May God bless you always, and hope your game is getting better every day you play.

I've been a client of Ken's for a good 25 years. We used to joke that it never seemed that long because it would remind us that we were getting to be a couple of really old dudes. Nonetheless I will always remember wonderful conversations, not to mention a recounting of key sporting events that transpired since my last haircut. This was important because a Super Bowl win, or a World Series championship, or an amazing Tiger victory was never complete until it was discussed with Ken. Often multiple times as a matter of fact. Case in point - Super Bowl 51. I cannot recall how many haircuts included at least a mention of that game. The same with the 2019 Masters, and we'd follow that up with Jack's 1986 win. We would debate which was better. (It was Jack's, in case you're wondering.) Beyond sports, Ken was always there to be empathic and offer words of support when life gave us challenges. I remember the haircut after my son passed away. He was so kind and caring as my emotions got the best of me. He was the kind of person you were so comfortable with it didn't matter if I was a wreck that day. He was a kind soul and I know his kindness touched so many others... But I cannot end without sharing one of our recent series of discussions about bands and musicians whom we shared mutual admiration. Among the many, one band in particular, the Traveling Wilburys, stands out. Kenny, I'd like to ask you to entertain this one request. I want to you to look up Tom, Roy, and George, and see if they'll let you audition to stand in for Jeff or Bob. You would make one heck of a Wilbury my friend!
To Sandy, and all his family and friends, I pray you are graced with strength and love knowing your beloved Ken meant so much to so many people. His memory will always be a blessing.

I just now found out (7/25/24) my friend has passed away. Ken was the best of the best. He was loyal, honest, intelligent and wise. I honestly can´t believe he´s gone. I feel miserable for missing the services. It was such a blessing to call him friend. Love and miss you. See you again someday.

I just called to make an appointment and heard Sandy's message, I am shocked and so sad to hear the news. My heart goes out to Sandy, family, and friends. I only met Ken a year ago while searching for a new barber and knew when we met that the search was over! On the way to the appointment I would think, "I wonder what we'll talk about today?". There was Always something interesting to chat about and I'm pleased to say I made him laugh, it was so easy with his great sense of humor! He will be sorely missed... he is One Of A Kind.

We are deeply sorry on the passing of Ken. Sending heartfelt Prayers for Peace and Strength during this time to you Sandy and your family.
Ken always brought us great Joy when we came to visit with the kids. No one was allowed to give the kids their first hair cut, except him!!!! There will be fond memories of golfing for sure and Ken was a HUGE support to us the weeks/days leading up to our wedding! We will never ever forget his guidance.

Kenny cut my hair for 40 years. He gave my 2 sons their first haircut and gave my grandson his first cut. He was my barber, my friend, and many times, my therapist! 14 years ago I was undergoing radiation treatments for throat cancer and I looked like a burn victim. I needed a haircut badly so Kenny got me in at the end of the day, put up the CLOSED sign, closed the blinds so nobody would stare at me.
Then he refused to take payment from me. I´ll never forget that beautiful gesture from this beautiful friend!
How he will be missed. Rest in peace Kenny

I only came to know Ken late in our lives about 10 years ago even though we knew many of the same people and shared many of the same experiences and places so we had a lot in common. Both he and my former barber of 40+ years Nelson Charest learned to cut hair together at Ken's father's barber school together. Ken was a great guy to talk with about sports and politics among other things while he cut my hair. I told him the last time he cut my hair a month ago that he was the "best" barber I ever had. I meant it truthfully. Not only did I lose my barber, I lost a friend. God bless ye merry Gentleman . . . . .

Ken, you're gone way too soon, such a shame. Our best to you and yours, so sorry this wish is late, but tomorrow is NOT guaranteed to any of us. You'll never run out of business where you're going. We'll all still need haircuts. Are you going down to 2 or 1 day a week? Or will you be playing golf every day now? I wonder how many golf courses there are in the next world. Gonna try and play them all too? Your game should really improve if that's(every day) what you choose to do.

In many cases having to 'go to an appointment' is not one that you look forward to. Getting your car inspected or having your taxes done are not events that one looks forward to.
Making an appointment to get your haircut is one that you look forward to - and one you NEVER miss (if you do, you will be getting a call from Ken).
The uniqueness around this appointment is that you will leave looking and feeling better than when you walked in; and with Ken that was a guarantee.
The time set aside was so that he could dedicate his time and craft 'taking care of business' with YOU - all the while discussing comedy (I loved to make him laugh so hard that he had to stop cutting my hair), music and general world affairs was time well spent. At the end was the moment when he would use his large mirror showing you all aspects of the finished product to ensure that you were happy with the results: always perfect - yet with a sense of sadness that your time spent together had come to an end at least for now.
When you left Kens place you took more look in the rearview mirror of your car before you left as an affirmation of a job well done and quickly looked forward to your next appointment to experience a repeat performance of Kens work.
Since the late 1980s I have had the pleasure of this time spent together and I know that it will never quite be duplicated in the way that Ken did.
Thank you for all of your years of dedication, being the DJ at my wedding reception, being the one to give the kids their first haircut and just being a unique and dear friend that shared sage advice.
Ken, my dear friend, you will be missed!
Sincerely,
Dennis Chabot and Family

Started my journey with Ken when he first opened Ken's Kutters at the back of his dad's NH Barber college and have been a client ever since. Over these many years Ken became one of my best friends sharing life as we went. As a fellow guitar player Ken was always excited to show me his new gear...A Martin just 2 weeks ago. We had a lot of fun and solved a lot of world problems right there in his chair. His loss is profound and he will be missed. God now has a new guitar player in his heavenly band. God bless you old friend and may you find eternal peace in the company of the Lord.

Ken was an incredible man that knew how to put people at ease and make you feel like a long lost friend. His smile was infectious and his laugh could fill a room, he could talk about sports one minute and music in the next breath.
He never had a harsh word and was always looking for the good in people. He was one of a kind and the world is going to miss him.

Reporting as usual this morning for my Wednesday appointment, I was shocked to find the door locked and more shocked to hear about Ken's untimely passing. I was referred to Ken about 20 years ago and have been a steady client since. It was always good to see Ken, and talk about sports, music, politics, and church. I will miss those times. Rest in heavenly peace, Ken and my condolences to your family and friends.

How can one express the life long friend Kenny was to me. I met Kenny when was at the young age of 17 when he cut my hair for the first time, we have shared life moments to remember over the next 43 years. We had countless hours of conversations of music, sports and most of all on how our family and children progressed over the years. My sons were the next generation to have Kenny in there life with 1st hair cut certificates !, they continued to sit in Kens chair over the next 20+ years. Kenny was not just a Master Barber he was part of my family and will be forever, I was blessed to have in my life and be part of his.

It's the first Tuesday of the month! I would normally be contacting "Gentleman's Headquarters" to be setting up my Thursday afternoon appt. !
I always looked forward to my visits to the shop. Kenny was my Barber, my Friend and my Golfing Buddy. I told him all my sins and all my wishes! He would always be responsive, especially when it was about New England Sports! Kenny was my barber, my son's barber and my grandson's barber. He was part of our lives for about the last 40 years, since he was at Cheryl's across the street from Blakes Creamery.
Kenny and my Bucket list was to play every golf course in NH...
A round of golf was never complete until we each had a least two Hot Dogs...
"God we had a lot of Hot Dogs " ....Kenny,You Will Be Missed....

I am so shocked and saddened to hear of Ken's passing. He cut my hair for the past 35 years and I got to know him enough to call him a dear friend. I remember his infectious laugh and his love of sports. He always wanted to play every golf course in the state of New Hampshire. He was respected, loved, and liked by everyone who knew him. Not to mention he was the best barber I've ever had. Rest in peace my friend. I will never forget you!

Today was a shocker when I went to have him cut my hair. So sorry for your loss and pray that God will comfort you during this time of grieving. He will surely be missed. Ken loved to share his faith, talk about his love of golf, sports, and talking with people. Just like his picture above always smiling when he greeted you. He will be deeply missed.
