Kenneth Garrard Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 5, 2025.
Kenneth Ray "Kenny Ray" Garrard, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, in Oakland, Tennessee. Born on September 10, 1940, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, Ken lived a full and spirited life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and an unmistakable sense of humor that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Ken proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the values of dedication and resilience that would define his life. A man known for his tireless work ethic and unwavering determination, he approached every task with grit and good humor. Whether tackling a job or cheering on his beloved University of Tennessee sports teams, Kenny Ray gave it his all.

He was a man who never met a stranger-his ornery charm and creative vocabulary made him unforgettable. His quick wit and larger-than-life personality brought laughter and warmth into every room he entered. Yet beneath the jokes and playful banter was a deeply loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from being surrounded by those he held dear.

Ken is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Garrard; children Regina Garrard, Micheal (Shelly) Garrard, Katina Garrard, and Karena Byers; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Martha Garrard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace "Sam" and Ruby Garrard, and his brother, Charlie Garrard.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

A Visitation will be held on November 6, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park East, 2440 Whitten Rd with the Funeral following at 2:00 PM.
