Kenneth Ray Greene

Mr. Kenneth Ray Greene, better known as "Kenny" age 75, of Jefferson passed away on Saturday afternoon, March 11, 2023 at Generations of Ashe.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 2:00pm at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Lawrence Goodman officiating. Masonic rites will be held at the graveside.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Greene was born in Ashe County on July 20, 1947 to the late Herbert and Annie Johnston Greene. Kenny was always very active in the community and always helping others with a smile on his face. He graduated from Beaver Creek High School and attend Forsyth Technical College. He served on the board of LifeStore Bankfor 23 years and 30 years on the Board of Blue Ridge Electric, where he was President from 2007-2018. He also served on the North Carolina EMC Board and NCAEC Board; where he served as Chairman appointed by Governor Pat McCrory. He was owner and operator of Greenfield Restaurant, Greene's Ready Mix and Builder's Mart of Ashe. Kenny was known for his one of kind BBQ and supported local causes with it. He was an avid golfer, loved Duke Basketball and supported his grandchildren in anything they did. He was a loving father, grandfather and devoted friend; he will be missed by all.
His faith was very important in his life and he taught Sunday school at Orion Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death his wife, Dorothy Ann Dillard Greene; three brothers, James Greene, Clayton Greene and Blan Hill Greene; three sisters, Annie Clyde Gentry, Mary Hardin and Violet Mae Hartzog.
Mr. Greene is survived by: his daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Travis, Perkins of Jefferson; three sisters, Doris Phillips (Johnny), of Jefferson, Betty Gentry, of Abingdon, VA and Martha Brown (Joe), of Todd; two grandchildren, John Fields Perkins and Annie Clare Perkins; several nieces and nephews also survive.
