David Greene Obituary

Published by Legacy from Sep. 30 to Oct. 1, 2025.
David W. Greene, 65, of rural Roann, Indiana passed surrounded by family at 10:51 pm, Monday, Sept. 29, 2025 at his daughter's residence.
Born September 20, 1960, in Wabash, Indiana, David was the son of Harley D. and Sue A. (Butcher) Greene. A proud 1979 graduate of North Miami High School, David spent his early years training quarter horses both locally and out west, a passion that reflected his deep connection to animals.
David's hardworking spirit led him to roles at Gaerte Fertilizer and Wabash Valley, where he was a skilled welder for 15 years. He later spent a decade at Craig Welding as a production welder.
An avid outdoorsman, David found joy in fishing and hunting, holding a lifetime fishing license and never missing an opening day of deer season in 50 years with his lifelong friend Kenny. His favorite traditions included hunting and sharing outdoor adventures with his son. He was a devoted sports fan, especially of basketball, football, and all things Notre Dame. He also loved cheering on North Miami teams, always loyal to his roots.
David cherished time with his girlfriend, Drenda. Together, they shared stories from his horse-training days, watched sports, and enjoyed her cherry cheesecake and oyster dressing-simple pleasures that brought him comfort.
He is survived by his children D.J. Greene of Peru and Jessika Greene of LaFountaine; grandchildren Khloe Harris and Harley Smoke Greene; father Harley Greene of Roann; sister Anita Greene of Roann; girlfriend Drenda Baber; special friend Kenny Ballee; and his beloved dog Lexus.
David was preceded in death by his mother Sue.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Olive Branch Church 4581 E. 1200 N. Roann, with pastor Jeff Sumner officiating. Memorial visitation hours is to be conducted from 1 pm to time of service at the church.
David's remembrance place will be in the Gilead Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Olive Branch Church.
