Obituary of Kenneth LaWayne Heskett
Kenneth LaWayne Heskett, a long-time resident of Chico, California, passed away November 19, 2022, at the age of 89.
One of nine children, Kenneth was born to William and Goldie Mae Heskett in Red Willow, Nebraska on February 1, 1933. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Heskett, and a rich legacy including seven children, 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one sister, sister-in-law, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Kenneth joined the Navy in 1952 and served four years. Following the Navy, he invested in the lives of 4 graders as a teacher for many years in Chico.
Kenneth loved his role as husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. A master craftsman, he excelled at woodworking, pottery, and problem solving. He loved learning and teaching his children and grandchildren. One of his many interests was music; he sang in choirs and taught himself guitar, accordion, and harmonica.
Kenneth served faithfully in his church and led a small group Bible study for many years. His goal each day was to "put on the full armor of God" and he led by example by reading God's Word, praying for many, and leading his family in morning devotions.
A man after God's own heart, Kenneth loved God, family, and life. He showed us all how to live an ordinary life with extraordinary impact.
