Kenneth S Hickman

Kenneth Samuel “Sam” Hickman, 65, of Ashland, OH, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at home with his family, in Ashland.  Sammy was born July 23, 1960 in Mansfield, OH to Reuben and Ora Jane {Lee} Hickman.

Sam drove trucks for many years until he met Cindy. She asked him to help with her dog grooming business where he worked until he became to sick to work. He loved to fish and there was a group of friends and family who fished with him for years annually in July. He could out fish everybody for years. He would tell it like he saw it and didn’t care, then laugh about it. He loved to pick on people except Cindy… He loved to dance. He would clear the floor with people watching while he danced really fast with Cindy. He caught people by surprise because he didn’t look like a dancer. He loved to sing. He would change the words to songs to suit himself and laugh about it. A fighter, he was sick for about 20 years and always beat the odds and kept going.

Sammy will be deeply missed by his life-partner Cindy Harris; children Matthew (Jessica) Hickman of Ashland, step-children Jody (Makenna) and Jerry (Chris) Boyd of Mansfield and Tiffany (Brandon) Chance of Mansfield; grandchildren, Trae, Brooklynn, Jasmine, Bella, Lexi; sisters Karen Allen, Linda Bray, and Norma Rifert.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents.
