Kenneth Hinson, 92, of Springlake, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, in Dimmitt, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Springlake Cemetery, with Mr. Kent Parish officiating and under the care of Ramage Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Ramage Funeral Directors in Olton.
Kenneth was born June 12, 1933, in Plainview, Texas. He was the son of Beatrice and James Luther Hinson of Springlake. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Dr. Mary Lou Holdren and Betty Parish, and his wife, Marthell Hinson.
Kenneth graduated from Springlake Earth High School in 1950. He married Marthell Barrett on April 28, 1951. Shortly after his marriage, Kenneth went to serve in the United States Army, in Germany, for several years. He and Marthell traveled throughout Europe during that time. They loved traveling and seeing the sights of the world. He was in a medical army unit from 1952 to 1957. He came home and began farming with his dad on the family farm in Springlake. He raised cotton, corn, maize, and alfalfa. He ran some cattle on the farm as well.
Kenneth loved going to the family cabin in Tres Ritos, New Mexico to explore mountain trails by jeep and motorcycle. In the colder months, he would ski at Sipapu or Taos ski lodges. He loved to encourage young artists and others to pursue their dreams in what ever way that might be. Kenneth spent many years as the primary care person for Marthell's mother, Estell Watson and later his wife, Marthell. In his later years, he loved spending time working in the shop building and improving the design of equipment for local farmers.
He is survived by his two sons, Kevin Hinson and wife Kelly of Atlanta, Georgia and Kent Hinson of Lubbock, Texas. He had four grandchildren: Mariah, Raven, Tarin of Atlanta, GA and Jacob of Argyle, TX and three great-grandchildren.
