Kenneth (Kenny) David James, 64, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away on November 14th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born to Richard and Dorothy James in Dayton, Ohio, on December 30, 1960, Kenny grew into the kind of man whose presence could fill a room long before his laughter did. His laugh was unforgettable. Hard-working to his core and loving in every aspect of his life, Kenny lived with a rhythm that was truly his own. Music moved him deeply; concerts were not just outings, but experiences he treasured and moments where he felt most alive.
Kenny was the life of every gathering. Whether he was behind the grill cooking up a burger, or mixing one of his famously strong drinks, we knew there was fun to be had at a Kenny James cook-out. His sense of humor was top notch and he loved to laugh. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, seen, and celebrated no matter the occasion.
Above all, Kenny adored his family. He found his greatest joy in his wife, Sandy James, his children-Sarah (Shaun), Melissa (Mac), and Anthony (Megan) whom he shared with his first wife, Jackie-and his eight cherished grandchildren: Chasity, Tristan, Oliviah, Neriah, Carter, Aeralyn, Casen, and August. Kenny's love knew no bounds, and nowhere was this more evident than in the care he devoted to his brother Donald. The bond they shared was so important to Kenny and it was a lifelong commitment he honored with no hesitation. Known to his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as Uncle Kenny, he shared so many wonderful times with every single one of them. His faithful dog, Layah, never strayed far from his side, a quiet companion to her favorite person.
Kenny is survived by his wife, three children, two step-children, eight grandchildren, and his four siblings-Donald, Linda, Debbie, and Richard-as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy James, whom he carried in his heart all his life.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21 at 11:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m. at Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and celebrate a man whose spirit was vibrant, generous, and unforgettable.
Kenny James lived loudly, loved fiercely, and laughed often, and our lives are richer for every moment we got to spend with him. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Kenneth David James, please visit our floral store.
