Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Jan. 19, 2026.
Mr. Kenneth Allen Justis, 82, of
Onancock, Virginia, was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He is now joyfully reunited with those who went before him and, as he would have loved to imagine it, sailing the seas of heaven together. Born September 5, 1943, in
Nassawadox, Virginia, and raised in Parksley, Kenny was the youngest child of the late Thomas Andrew Justis and Carvella Killmon Justis.
After graduating from Parksley High School (Class of 1961), Kenny enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Eastern Shore and began a distinguished career as an electronics technician at NASA's Wallops Island facility. He later worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), where he dedicated many years of service before retiring in 2001. Kenny was grateful for opportunities to travel to Alaska and Hawaii, supporting training related to satellite equipment.
An avid sailor, Kenny's love for the water led him on countless adventures along the Intracoastal Waterway and to the Bahamas, often alongside good friend, the late Bob Taylor, and later with his wife, Dianne. His brother Stewart sparked in him an appreciation for antique automobiles, a passion Kenny continued to enjoy throughout his life. He was a member of Baptist Bible Church, a longtime member of The Accomack–Northampton Antique Automobile Club of America, the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the Onancock Sailing Club, and, most recently, American Legion Post 100 in Parksley.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Dianne Kothe Justis; his daughter, Dawn Mason (Michael), of Pocomoke City, Maryland; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Connie Williams Justis, and by his sister and brothers: Viola Sammons, Stewart F. Justis, Garmon T. Justis, Stanley N. Justis, Sr., Vance I. Justis, and Ames Justis.
A service celebrating Kenny's life will be held at Baptist Bible Church on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Jonathan Budd officiating. The family will gather for private interment at Liberty Cemetery.
Contributions in his memory may be made to Baptist Bible Church, 24577 Front St, Accomac, VA 23301, or to Riverside Shore Hospice, P.O. Box 616,
