Kenneth "Ken" Arthur Johnson, 79, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025. Born on January 9, 1946, in McKeesport, PA, Ken was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a loyal friend.
Ken was the son of the late Arthur and Ruth Johnson. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Northern Michigan University. Ken spent the majority of his career as an accountant for AK Steel. After retiring from AK Steel in 2004, he embarked on a fulfilling second career as a selling agent for New York Life, a role he truly cherished for the connections he made and the people he served.
Ken had been actively engaged in the Zanesville community since moving to the area with his family in 1985. He was a dedicated member of his church, serving actively on its council, and volunteered as an Assistant Scoutmaster, helping organize meetings, camping trips, and ceremonies for the Boy Scouts. He also enjoyed the camaraderie of the Zanesville Rotary Club.
A man of many talents and interests, Ken enjoyed camping, home improvement projects, and tinkering in his garage. He was known for his helpful and caring nature, his strong sense of friendship, and a stern but loving demeanor. He found immense joy in his family, especially his granddaughter, Dagny, whose presence brought him great happiness from the moment she joined the family in 2008. His admiration and constant interest in her life were a testament to his deep devotion to those he loved.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Johnson, whom he married on October 19, 1968; his sons, Craig Johnson and his wife Barbara, and Timothy Johnson and his wife Jennifer. He also leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Dagny Johnson. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Peter Johnson. Ken will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
