In Loving Memory of Kenneth (Ken) Don Klicker

November 9, 1953 – March 19, 2026

Kenneth (Ken) Don Klicker passed away on March 19, 2026, at the St. Cloud VAMC following a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

Ken was born on November 9, 1953, in Wheaton, MN, to Donald and Ruth (Swanson) Klicker. His family moved many times over the course of his young life, taking him to Callaway, Audubon, Barnesville, and Moorhead, MN, before a final move back to the family farm in Wheaton. Ken graduated from Wheaton High School in 1971, after which he attended a year at Willmar Vocational-Technical College.

In 1972, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Grand Forks, ND, and completed a tour in Guam. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Wheaton. On August 17, 1974, Ken was united in marriage to Karen E. Jackson, and they started their new life together on the family dairy farm in Wheaton. To this union, four sons were born: Nathan, Steven, Scott, and Matthew.

In May of 1983, Ken and his family moved to Menahga, MN, where he was employed as a herdsman and a landscaper. During this time, Ken obtained a B.S. degree in Social Work from Bemidji State University. His new profession took his family to Tracy and Litchfield, MN, where he worked in the child protection field. After being diagnosed with MS in May of 1993, Ken and his family returned to Menahga.

Ken was actively involved over the years with local chapters of the Farmers Union, the ADA, the Lions Club, and the VFW. When he wasn't volunteering, he could be found enjoying a round of golf at Blueberry Pines or sharing his lifelong love of deer hunting with his four sons. An avid fan of Minnesota sports, Ken never missed a Vikings or Twins game-often playfully coaching them from the comfort of his recliner. Above all, he was incredibly proud of his children and their many accomplishments.

Ken is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen; his sons, Nathan (Denise), Steven (Rainnie), Scott (Carly), and Matthew (Tabitha); and his grandchildren, Caleb (Alexis), Grace, Sarah, Connor, Jonas, Hadley, Maverick, Mathea, and Marx. He is also survived by his sisters, Audrey Fischer, Linda (Mike) Wanek, and Jane (Chris) Hasbargen, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Don; mother, Ruth; brother, Gary; brother-in-law, Rob Fischer; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Service Information: At this time, no formal funeral services are scheduled. The family plans to hold a celebration of Ken's life at a later date. Details regarding the gathering will be shared once arrangements are finalized.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the National MS Society or the Wounded Warrior Project.
