Kenneth Kruss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services LTD. on Jan. 17, 2026.
Kenneth S. Kruss, born April 20, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, was the beloved son of Thomas and Stella (née Forys) Kruss, who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Patricia Poborsky, Thomas Kruss, and Barb Poole and his adored dogs Otis and Peanut.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Patricia Kruss; his sons, Kenneth (Jaime Archer) Kruss, Jason Kruss, and David (Erin Duffy) Kruss; and his five cherished grandchildren, Natalie, Corey, Brayden, Brody, and Chloe, his many nieces and nephews and his treasured dog Rusty.

Ken grew up in Chicago and attended Lane Tech High School. After his family moved to the suburbs, he continued his education at Palatine High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he was deployed overseas as a gunner and paratrooper where he earned the Good Conduct medal, and the Air Force Longevity Award. Following his military service, Ken built a successful 35-year career in the automotive industry, ultimately serving as General Manager at Hoskins Chevrolet. Known for his leadership, and dedication, he earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike before retiring.

A lifelong Chicago sports fan, Ken was devoted to the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears, a passion he proudly passed on to his sons. He loved entertaining and was especially known for hosting memorable Christmas Eve and Labor Day gatherings. Ken enjoyed spending time with his children doing yard work, golfing, visiting Arlington Racetrack, playing slot machines at the casino, traveling to Las Vegas, and collecting rare coins. He loved pizza and movie nights with the family, beach and pool days and always looked forward to his many vacations.

Ken was known for his simple pleasures - a good cup of coffee, several Coca-Colas a day, and a Manhattan, easy on the Vermouth. A dedicated Elvis fan, he appreciated good music and good company. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud father, grandfather and uncle, and a man who valued hard work, service, and family and friends above all else.
