Robert Charley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home - Spring Green on Mar. 16, 2026.
Robert W. "Bob" Charley, age 78, of Spring Green, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, surrounded by family, after a brief illness. He died in his favorite place, his farm in Wilson Creek located in Spring Green, beside his favorite person, his husband, Tom Alfini. Bob was born on July 16, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Edward and Agnes (Gusten) Charley. Bob met Tom on January 15, 1966, and they had been together ever since.

Bob worked as a residential interior designer, bringing warmth, beauty, and personality to the homes of others, as well as to three homes of his own. Later, Bob worked alongside his husband Tom at Arc Disposal Company in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, where he remained for 22 years. After his time at Arc Disposal, he worked as a dispatcher for Crown Lift Trucks in Schaumburg, Illinois. Following his retirement in 2006 and his move from Illinois to Spring Green, Bob became the site manager of the Spring Green Senior Center, where he spent many happy years serving others.

Bob was sweet, kind, funny, caring, and so very loved. He had a gift for caring for people and was always ready to help those in need, becoming a caregiver to many in the community. He was also a keeper of memories and always had a story to tell, often sharing them in the local Spring Green newspaper. He loved decorating and took great joy in helping others create beautiful homes.

Music was another of Bob's gifts. He and his middle brother, Ron, shared a love of singing and were both wonderful singers. Bob sang at many weddings and birthday celebrations, bringing happiness to so many occasions.

Above all, Bob's family meant everything to him. He dearly loved his own family, as well as Tom's family, and held all of them close to his heart.

Bob is survived by his devoted husband, Tom; his beloved dogs, Louie and Ivy; and his cherished miniature horses, Casey, Dolly, Opie, and Indie. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Gayle Charley, Barb Charley, Laurie Alfini, and Ginger Alfini; many nieces and nephews; and the newer additions to the family who brought him such joy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes; his father, Edward; his older brother, Edward ("Mick"); and his middle brother, Ron.

Honoring Bob's wishes, no formal funeral services will be held.
