Kenneth Larry Lung, 77 of Beardstown, died Monday, January 5, 2026 at his home.
He was born January 20, 1948 in Rushville, the son of Ernest Andrew and Alice Nellie Lisenbee Lung. He married Marilyn Meck Smedley on August 23, 1991 in Beardstown, and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2008.
He is survived by two children Becky Borchers (husband Jesse) and Richard Lung, both of Beardstown; two grandchildren Anthony Borchers (wife Kendra) and Jacob Borchers; one step grandson TJ Smedley; one sister Pauline Hagaman (husband Al) of Rushville; one great-granddaughter Millie; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a stepdaughter, Vicky Smedley, a stepson Rick Smedley, a sister Gladys Walker, a brother LeRoy Lung, and a nephew Kenny Lung.
Larry grew up in Camden and graduated from Rushville High School in 1966. He proudly and bravely served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Germany, and later continued his service with 19 dedicated years in the National Guard.
Throughout his life, Larry wore many hats. He worked as a meat cutter at Oscar Mayer, spent time with Waste Management, and provided security at Dixon Mounds and Hardee's. Never one to shy away from hard work, Larry was always willing to do whatever was needed-whether hauling asphalt or lending a helping hand.
Outside of work, Larry found happiness in the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. In recent years, he especially loved attending car shows with his beloved Corvette and caring for the many animals he cherished. One of the highlights of his days was spending time with his morning breakfast crew, which brought him great joy and companionship. Above all, Larry treasured every opportunity to watch his grandsons play baseball, a pastime that filled his heart with pride and happiness.
