Kenneth Mah, age 100, of Silver Spring, MD, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025.
Growing up in Connecticut, and later making his home in Maryland, Kenneth lived a life marked by devotion to his family, dedication to the field of engineering, and service to his country.Ken earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. In World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as part of the 407th Air Service Squadron, a unit composed of Chinese Americans that supported the “Flying Tigers.” Throughout his career, he helped shape both military and civilian technology during a pivotal era of change, and spent the bulk of his career with IBM. His mind remained sharp through his final days.
A devoted and loving husband, father to four daughters, and grandfather to six grandchildren, Ken found great joy in sports, especially tennis and pickleball. Self-taught in both, he shared his love of tennis by teaching his wife and daughters, making it a cherished family activity on many weekends and evenings. He also supported his grandchildren in their pursuit of sports.
Kenneth is survived by his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held in January 2026 with family and friends. Kenneth will be remembered for his warmth, steady presence, love of learning, and deep commitment to family and service. His legacy lives on through those who knew and loved him.
