Kenneth McDeavitt Obituary

Rev. Kenneth L. McDeavitt, of Butler Township, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, at age 88.
Born Nov. 28, 1934, in Slippery Rock, he was the son of the late Frank D. McDeavitt and Blanche E. Piper.
Pastor McDeavitt proudly served our country in the Navy during the Korean War, and also served four years in the Naval Reserves.
Pastor McDeavitt was called by God into ministry and attended the Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington, Texas, now known as Arlington Baptist College. Over the years, he served as associate pastor and pastor at Butler Baptist Temple in Butler, pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Cambridge Springs, Pa., co-pastor at Pompano Baptist Church in Pompano Beach, Fla., and founder of Baptist Temple of Franklin in Franklin, Pa.
Pastor McDeavitt moved and renamed New Testament Baptist Church in Butler from its location downtown to North Duffy Road, where he served for 36 years as pastor. He then founded New Hope Baptist Church in Saxonburg, Pa., where he served as pastor for 16 years. After 60 years of dedicated service, Pastor McDeavitt stepped aside from his duties in July 2019, becoming pastor emeritus of New Hope Baptist Church. Above all, he was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
He is survived by his children, Rick (Rose) McDeavitt of Lyndora, Kathleen (Todd) Schmitt of Indianapolis, Ind., Michael McDeavitt of Renfrew and Timothy (Anissa) McDeavitt of Ellwood City; 14 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona E. Redmond McDeavitt. Pastor McDeavitt also was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and four sisters.

I was cleaning up, getting rid of things and came upon my Certificate of Baptism. I was Baptized on the eighteenth of September 1966 by your dad K.L. McDeavitt. I remember it so well it was held at Calvary Baptist Church in Meadville PA, I also remember Kathleen got baptized too and she said help me my dad´s drowning me, so I looked up your dad on the internet. I´m sorry to hear of his passing!! God Bless you all!
