Kenneth Michael “K.D.” Dobson, age 62 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at his residence.
K.D. was born on November 19, 1961, in Gordon County, GA, son of the late William Billy Dobson and Myrtice Souther Dobson. After serving his country in the United States Navy, K.D. drove trucks and eventually owned and operated his own logging company. As a man of many talents , he went into the restaurant business, after a down turn in the economy K.D. started his own sawmill business in Rock Creek before his retirement due to health issues.
K.D. is survived by his wife, Wanda Fuller Burroughs; two children, Amanda (Mack) Steele, and Amy Dobson; two step-children, Amanda Hendrix and Mickey Jones (Anthony Burkes); six siblings, Cheryl Hall and Rick Engle, Donna (Roger) Wehking, Tammi Hedges, Lewis (Judy) Dobson, Gary Dobson, Wendy (James) Hobberchalk; seven grandchildren, Emily Art, Warren Allen, Jaiden Dobson, Autumn Whitaker, Karson Cavins, Aiden Harris, and Kreed Hendrix; and three bonus grandchildren, Kaily Allen, Julie Allen, and Harper Allen.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in West Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include Tony Allen, Bryan Dobson, Tyler Hobberchalk, Doug Bryant, Marty Worley, and Shane Hall. Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Ricks and David Bryant. The Legion Riders will serve as Honorary Escorts.
